Life at Our Cottage moves at an easy, comfortable pace — much like home. Mornings begin with the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen, caregivers chatting softly as they help Residents start the day. Each person has their own routine — some enjoy coffee and conversation early, while others wake slowly and ease into the morning.
Our homes are small and personal, so life never feels scheduled or institutional. The rhythm of the house follows the Residents, not the other way around.
Meals are freshly prepared each day and designed by a geriatric nutritionist to meet the needs of older adults.
· Breakfasts are home-cooked in the home each morning.
· Lunch and dinner are chef-prepared off-site and delivered fresh daily (Friday’s delivery includes the weekend).
· Snacks, fruits, and beverages are available anytime.
We collaborate with families to accommodate preferences, special diets, and favorite comfort foods — because meals are about more than nourishment; they’re moments of joy and connection.
Families may choose their own healthcare providers.
For those who prefer coordinated in-home medical support, Our Cottage proudly partners with Peak Medical Associates (PIC) — a trusted local group offering 24/7 support lines, telehealth access, and in-person visits as needed.
PIC works with most major insurance plans and includes specialists in cardiology, psychiatry, podiatry, wound care, and geriatric internal medicine.
Enrollment with PIC is completely optional — available for convenience, but never required. Families may continue using their preferred physicians or other providers at any time.
During the day, our average caregiver-to-resident ratio is 1 to 4, which is as close to one-on-one care as you can find in assisted living. At night, we maintain a 1:8 ratio (or 1:4 in higher-acuity homes).
Because of this small scale, our caregivers truly get to know each Resident — their habits, moods, and comfort needs — and relationships form naturally. It’s warm, attentive, and deeply personal care, never rushed.
Our caregivers are all background-checked, trained, CPR-certified, and supervised by our RN. They receive ongoing education in dementia care, emergency preparedness, and medication management.
Many of them stay with us for years and become part of the family — offering companionship, laughter, and stability to our Residents.
We believe engagement is essential to wellbeing. Our Cottage employs a Life Enrichment Coordinator who plans weekly programs that bring variety, creativity, and joy to each home— from art, music, and movement to themed socials, holiday events, and gentle sensory activities.
Throughout the week, our caregiving team continues many of these activities daily, keeping the homes lively and connected.
We also host chair yoga, memory games, and volunteer visits. Most importantly, we follow the natural rhythm of each Resident’s day — offering gentle encouragement, but never pressure. Life here is full of meaning, warmth, and choice.

Because here, Your Care is Our Purpose.
Yes. Our Cottage has a licensed real estate professional on our team who can assist families needing to sell or rent a home as part of the transition process. Whether you need guidance on timelines, decluttering, or connecting with trusted vendors, we’re happy to provide resources and personalized support to make the move as smooth as possible.
No. While our management team does not live onsite, we are deeply involved and present. Our company is professionally operated yet family-run — small enough to care personally, but structured enough to ensure consistency, accountability, and excellence in every home. Leadership visits the homes frequently and stays closely connected with caregivers, Residents, and families alike.
Our staff is specially trained in dementia care and supported by our Memory Care–certified licensing.
We focus on comfort, familiarity, and gentle engagement rather than rigid schedules. Families often tell us their loved ones become calmer and more social after moving in because they feel safe, understood, and truly cared for.
That’s very common — and it doesn’t mean she won’t settle beautifully once she’s here. Our team has supported many families through this exact moment. We offer gentle introductions and short respite stays that let your loved one experience life here without pressure.
Once they see how homelike and kind the environment feels, most begin to relax and even thrive.
Absolutely! Families are encouraged to bring favorite furniture, artwork, or photos to make the space truly feel like home. We’ll help you arrange it beautifully and safely.
We have detailed Emergency Preparedness Plans in place — reviewed annually and approved by the State. All staff are trained in fire, medical, and weather-related responses, ensuring a calm and organized approach in any situation.
Staying connected with families is one of our top priorities. We currently communicate through regular phone calls, text messages, and in-person updates — and we’re in the process of implementing the ALIS enterprise platform, a secure, family-access online system.
Once fully launched, families will be able to log in anytime to view important updates about their loved one — including daily notes, activity calendars, menus, photos, and general community updates.
This technology will make it even easier for families to stay informed and feel connected to daily life at Our Cottage.
Leadership and caregivers are approachable, responsive, and always available to listen.
Our Cottage homes are non-smoking indoors, in accordance with state regulations and to ensure a healthy, comfortable environment for all Residents.
However, if a Resident is a smoker, we can accommodate outdoor smoking in a designated area at each home.
This allows us to respect personal choice while keeping the homes fresh, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
